I actually left Hartsville before 8 o'clock and headed North. I arrived at my normal haunts considerably earlier than normal which turned out to be a good thing. Once the rain arrived around 3 or so the fish got lockjaw for me. I was doing my usual caddis and midge deal that I usually start up with around the middle of October. When the rain arrived the bugs disappeared and so did my catching. However, it was fun as the dickens for the first couple of hours. Dean arrived upstream and I got to see him for a little while. He finished up downstream and said he caught some nice ones. I caught the smallest fish I have ever caught on the Smith. When he flew by my ear I figured he would have fallen off, but he didn't. I actually took his picture just for the heck of it.

I thought the little squirt was kinda neat. I caught 4 or 5 rainbows that I think were holdovers. I don't know when they are going to start stocking, but I am not seeing many people fishing upstream. It was fun and it was good to see Dean.

Sounds like a fun day. Those fish look a little skinny. Thanks for sharing.
