i guess it has become obvious that bo cash is a pansy sniffer while i am a dignified amateur botanist..hehehe

bo..i'm real sure that trillium is catesby's trillium. the flower has narrow petals whose margins are wavy. the flower is on a stem that leans over between the leaves but does not truly nod below the leaves as does nodding trillium. there are big beds of this plant all along the upper valley where the pic was taken

as for the silverbell...not so sure its a silverbell. silverbells normally have pairs of flowers and in the pic i think i see some arrangement that ain't pairs (could be my bad eyes) which makes me think itis some Styrax sp

your thoughts, bo??

good lord the things we see when we ain't watching the fly

Yah, Norb.............. if we can hijack this post................. I have never formally
ID'ed a Gatesby, but I can sure tell that one is "different" from a Large Flowered Tr.

On the Carolina Silverbell, like you, I cannot truly tell from Jason's photo that it
is indeed a C. Silverb. Something about it looks fishy (pardon the pun). At first glance, the blooms do not look right as it seems I remember the C.Silverbell's blooms literally
look like "bells."

Anyhow................. crawling back into my cave. I got a bunch to do.

Y'all have a great weekend. Bubba, the Hairless
