A group of us cleared out a couple-tenths of mile stretch in a brookie stream recently. (US Forest Service sponsored event along with local TU guys, etc.) It's tough work fer sure!! I've fished it only one time since then and didn't get hit one... :? :( Hopefully they were just not in the mood, although with as opportunistic as they are, I'm wondering if any are in this stretch.

I've also fished twice a real gnarly stretch above the daylighted section with good activity. All pretty much like this one:

Have any of you all 'daylighted' streams before? It was explained to me that unchoking the streams of rhodos, etc lets the sunlight in and promotes life...plus it allows a person to cast a fly!

It's a mixed bag. Letting the sun in also heats up the water, and makes the fish more visible to certain predators.

yep, fished a similar stream in Tellico, didn't get into fish until we got back into the rhodo.

Never stand in the sun when you can sit in the shade
