Got back from 4 days of fishing and camping in the Park. I camped at Smokemont. It wasn't even near full -- the normal tourist season is not like it usually is this year.

The cautionary tales some guys here mentioned were true. The water was very low and warm for the Smokies. I fished Bradley's Fork hard, Kephart Prong, and a few other small streams. As A.K. best said, "The fishing was good, but the catching was only fair." It was tough fishing conditions.

Talked to a couple of other fly fishermen who said that the Cherokee trophy water was fishing like sh*t. I didn't even bother.

The beef stew for dinner and campfires afterward were excellent.

I caught small little rainbows and saw some elk and a bear. Busted my butt hiking, rock climbing, and trying to catch little fish. I'm really sore all over. Getting too old for this fishing alone? I dunno.

No pics. I took the camera, but it never left the duffle bag. My bad. I don't really care -- it was a solo trip for me, and I wasn't really concerned about proof.

Sounds like a good trip. Unfortunately, I'm starting to feel the soreness creeping in after trips. Maybe I need to fish more to work it out. :D

Phil, you're not too old until you just can't do it anymore. Glad you had a good outing, even if the fish didn't cooperate.

Feel the same way Phil. Still sore today after stumbling around in a creek all weekend. I bet if I did it 2-3 weekends per month it wouldn't hurt so much.

Glad you got out Phil. No pics, no prob - to an extent, taking the pic actually lessens the enjoyment of the catch.
