My good buddy Marty and I made a trip North to his childhood stomping grounds to try to tangle with some lake-run fish. The lake effect promised some nasty, freezing weather along with the chance to tangle with the biggest fish I've ever encountered. These fish are pretty average for veteran lake-run anglers, but to this small stream brookie fisherman they were definitely something special. The high, muddy water and freezing temps meant tough conditions, but I was fortunate that Marty knew the lay of the land and got us on some smaller streams where we stood half a chance. All of the big water was pretty much blown out but I had a blast tangling with these fish on the smaller creeks. Here are some pics of our adventure - hope you enjoy.

Thanks guys. I already can't wait for next December to go again. That brown that my buddy caught was the fish of the trip for sure. We didn't measure it but I think it was pushing 30 inches. Here are a few more shots as I get them uploaded to photobucket. Hopefully, nobody minds a picture heavy thread.

Great report Dan and very impressive how you guys were able to find fish in some very challenging conditions.

Thanks Blake but I'll have to give Marty the credit for finding the fish. I was just tagging along - and happy to be doing it.
