I made it down to TN last Friday through Sunday for my annual Spring trip. The fishing was outstanding and a good time was had by all. I didn't even know that the PFF gathering was going on at the same time. Guess I should scroll down the page a little more often - it would have been good to meet some of you guys in person.

I've been working on a video report for the last couple days and I can't figure out how to embed video in a post. If anyone knows how to do it, please let me know. Anyway, here's a link to a crappy little blog I do if anyone wants to see the video.

Great vid. Stills are crisp and well-done. Too bad you missed us at Shady Valley.
Thank for sharing and posting.

Nice pics and video. What type of camera were you using?

Killer video and stills! I'd also like to know what cameras you used (and what software for the stills).

Thanks guys. All of the pics and most of the video was taken with a Pentax Optio W90. The video of the LDR and the next clip of the good fish making the downstream run was taken with a cheap Best Buy brand HD flip camcorder. I set it up on a gravel bar on a little tripod. The pentax shoots in 720 HD and the Best Buy shoots in 1080 HD. Curiously, the Pentax video looks a lot better to me. The software I use is the software that came with the Pentax. It's called Media Impression and can do the basic adjustments like contrast, brightness, saturation etc.

I use a Pentax W30. Looks like I need to upgrade. :o

BTW -- I stopped in at Juddie's last Saturday morning, and there were a bunch of tents there and too many fishermen in the water. Was that you guys? I left, but wish that we could have met.

Phil, yep that was us and there were 5 of us - plus a few people not from our group. I was downstream of Juddy's on Sat. morning, toward the island, if I remember correctly. Later we moved on down to Rockhold to get ahead of the water but we probably fished at Juddy's until 1:00 or 2:00.

The software can definitely make up for mediocre camera skills:

OK. That explains the spinning rods and spin fishermen I saw. I wasn't gonna say anything.... :D

A couple of our guys did bring spinning rods. It was ok with Juddy and they aren't likely to descend on the river every weekend with worms and minners. In fact, they might make the trip once every couple years. They were also practicing catch and release. It was more about seeing old friends from school. I brought a bunch of extra gear and I think I may have them converted to the long rod now anyway. By Saturday afternoon, the spinning rods were being left in camp. Interestingly, one of them much preferred a 60 year old Montague to a much more modern Sage.

There were also several other guys spin fishing and keeping fish that were not part of our group. That's not to say I have anything against keeping fish, if it's legal, but that wasn't us.
