Loves them, I do...

How little can a stream get to be too small to fly fish? Pretty tight....

They're in there --

Thanks, Dan. Yes, it was a fine afternoon. In those tight quarters, I didn't lose a fly. Fished the same #14 EHC the whole time. Yes, I had to get it out of rhodos, trees, and bushes, but never broke off. That's a friggin' first. :D

Tom, don't try it unless you can bow and arrow cast 7 - 8 feet on your knees (or on your belly). Don't expect to get a foot of fly line out of the rod tip with a 7' leader.
The trick is not spooking the brookies when trying to get to a casting position. I probably spooked 15 fish. If ya don't spook 'em, they'll take anything ya throw.
The #14 EHC looked like a yacht in that tiny water.

Hey Phil - Good on ya. Glad you was able to find some solitude and good fishing. Things like that give ya time to reflect and appreciate your lot in life.

My wife and I spent the majority of yesterday with the widow of a good friend. He was a draft dodger but he was still a good friend and I miss him. Spent some time today in my garden which is a place I go to reflect. I didn't go to parades or Memorial Day ceremonies anymore. Used to do that but have not in several years. Back when I was on active duty I used to go to my hometown where the American Legion used to let me carry the American flag in the parade. They even invited me to be the guest speaker one year. Now days I just stay home and reflect.

Watched the news tonight and saw profiles of folks being remembered. Got to thinking of all those I have not thought about for some time. Told my wife I could count the names of those I personally knew on my hand and when I started to do that found I quickly went to the 2nd hand and then had to start over again. Turns out I needed +2 hands for the Americans and many more for the Vietnamese I knew. I was fortunate in that only one American under my direct command paid the ultimate sacrifice but many Vietnamese and Cambodians who counted on me did. I know we entertain the folks here with our petty political differences Phil but we share a bond that fewer and fewer Americans can claim or understand. You have my respect and gratitude for serving when called. Hope you're able to chase those Brookies for many years to come.

Good stuff! :D I did a little crawling around Sat myself. I tried out a little stream and found I'll be going back to do a lot more crawling around ASAP.
