Seems like a lot of folks are going out to the Yellowstone area this year. Judy and I took 2 weeks off and drove over there ourselves. I'll spare y'all the travelogue and the photos of buffalo. I'll even skip the pix of Old Faithful. Suffice it to say that Judy had a pretty good time. The worst part of the trip was waking up Sunday morning (Sept 4) and finding that it was only 24 f.!!!! The highlight of my trip was getting to spend a couple of hours on Slough Creek, and hauling in this:

That's a 20" cutthroat. It took a (drum roll please) size 14 Ben's beetle.

There are times when quality definitely outshines quantity.

One of my co-workers was out there about 3 weeks ago, said fly fishermen were everywhere. :o
I was fortunate enough to fish the Lamar river back in late August of 2001. Caught cutts on hoppers and mahogany duns. Experienced just enough fishing there to fully appreciate your picture. Well done Sir and congrats to you.

Nice Paul... real nice cutty.
So, how was the drive? With airlines being wacko about everything from luggage restrictions to new fees that seem to pop up daily, I sometimes think the drive out would be worth it.
Did you get to the conclave?

Paul -- I gotta ask --
Did you get that 20" cutt in the lower meadow area of the Slough, or did you hike up?
Inquiring minds want to know. I'm taking my wife out there this coming summer. We'll drive and be doing the sightseeing Yellowstone Park thing (she's never been to a Western National Park), but I'm hoping for some fishing opportunities.

Nice work Paul! If it's from the first meadow, those are some picky trout

Nice. I hiked to the 3rd meadow back in 2003 and spent the night at one of the back country sites. I've wanted to get back ever since.
