A group from Saluda River TU headed up to the Chattooga River on Friday Nov. 4. We stayed in the big Barracks cabin (sleeps 16, 8 bunk beds) at Oconee State Park, SC. The plan was to fish Friday afternoon, attend the SC TU state council meeting Saturday morning, fish Saturday afternoon; and Sunday, either fish or go to the fly show in Asheville. Friday afternoon was beautiful and the fishing was great. We caught lots of nice fish, most were good size Brook Trout. I twisted my ankle Friday night on the cabin steps. This laid me up all day Saturday at the cabin while the rest of the folks when to the council meeting and then fishing. The Saturday group continued to catch a lot of fish. Again a lot of nice Brook Trout. The fish were hitting worms, egg patterns, wooly boogers, streamers and just about anything thrown at them. Sunday, a few headed home, a few fished and myself and two friends headed over to the fly show in Asheville before going home.
