So I get a text tuesday from a buddy that says, "Hey I'm headed up to the upper Linville friday, you in town?"
Of course I'm gonna go fishing, but had to steer my buddy in another direction. Having never fished the gorge of Wilson I figured this would be a perfect time to go rip a streamer or two through there and see what could be had. The drive in saw a few snow flurries, but thankfully no accumulation. It was still bitterly cold.

Despite there not even being a hook-up, it was great to get out and remind myself of what it is like to be cold, wet, tired, hungry and loving every second of it.

Oh yeah, on our way out crossing the river I guess I didn't guage the depth of the water, and had about a half gallon of it spill into my waders, 40 degree water on a perfectly warm manhood WILL clear the sinuses. Here's the hole I tried to cross. *facepalm*

We reached the conclusion to try for the tuck, yeah not with those water levels. Camped out, and when I took off my socks I saw this...

WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Next day we come up with a gameplan and stick to it.

Did I mention it was kinda chilly? haha we all released a few fish with some new piercings but I only managed to take a picture of this little fella..

Moved on to a familiar hole to seek my revenge on a resident there who owes me a picture, barbed him *facepalm* till next time my friend...

Till my next 96 hour pass...Till next time... Hope ya'lls enjoy.

Too cold for me! The temperature has to be equal to my age. 8-)

That gorge looks inviting, but it gets cleaned out during the summer months. If you keep driving you would have hit the DH section which usually gives up a few fish in the winter. Glad you got out!

Sometimes the hike is worth the trip all by itself. I missed my connections this weekend and didn't get out.

I'll be at Lake Rimm this coming Saturday. That'll have to do for a while.

Just keep in mind, everything in Wilson is a bit deeper than it looks. That water is gin clear most of the time. And I'll second heading on up for higher ground. Mo better.
