I just picked up a new 5' 2wt rod and want to break it in this weekend in the park. How are people doing there? I can imagine the water levels are pretty good with all of the rain we've been having.

Gauges for the east slope streams are just about perfect. I haven't been out for a few weeks but I imagine there is some ice on them by now, especially with the colder nights we've been having. Hopefully they don't look like this yet:

East Slope warms up quicker and typically fishes a little better in the winter. Dredging nymphs should yield some. I you catch a few consecutive warm days the top water bite usually turns on. Be sure to post a report to let us know how you did.

I hit up the east side of the park for about three hours on Sunday. Wasn't the best fishing, but at least I was able to get two really nice brookies. If it weren't for my battery being dead, I wold have had some nice pictures.

The water was pretty good with nearly no ice at all. Pretty good day.

Eric-
Glad to see you hanging round again. I Hope you get to hook up with some of our Va brothers this spring. Watch out for DShort, great guy, but he is too good a fisherman, he will catch all your fish, And I promise a day on the water with FT or Trout Chaser will be almost as much fun as a day on the water with Peddler and I ( for those of you going HUH? You had to be there! ) Hope you can make it to one of the gatherings this year.
