A couple of us volunteers from CFFC hosted some wounded active duty Marines from Camp Lejeune NC last Thursday thru Sunday. No affiliation with Project Healing Waters. The wounded warriors are from the USMC Wounded Warrior Battalion at Camp Lejeune NC, we're simply showing them a little gratitude for their service & sacrifice. The 4 Marines picked up on fly fishing pretty well thanks to volunteer guide/fishing buds Tim Jenkins, Steve Patterson, Chris Roche and special thank you to TU members Casey Brock and Tim Ramsey who each helped one day on very short advance notice, THANK YOU!! I'd also like to thank volunteer guide Tim Slape from Orvis in Charlotte for his generous help on Thursday.

We rented the Mitchell River house for the long weekend and stocked the private pond for the Marine with mobility limitation issues...Jason caught dozens of nice 15" Rainbows out of the pond. Marines Armand, Andy and Randal caught plenty of stocker's in the Mitchell...a great place for fly fishing beginners to learn to FF during DH season. The weather was fantastic all weekend mid 70's sunny and cool at night, perfect. Their weekend was capped off with an early morning Sunday drive over to Blowing Rock to fish a trophy section of Boone Fork Creek. All the wounded warriors caught several trophy trout each and are now hooked on fly fishing.

Thank You!! Carl Freeman & Dr. Troy for your hospitality, generosity & willingness to help these wounded warriors have an enjoyable weekend catching trophy trout on your private water at the Refuge.

Good work! Terry Troy's "Jurrasic Park" is always a great place to fish. Unbelievably large trout....
