I haven't fished much this passed year. Been trying to get my life back on some sort of a even keel. Some success and some work to do.

Today was a half day before Thanksgiving break. I don't get my son till Friday evening so the holiday isn't all that pleasant for me. Decided it would be best to do some wandering and alone time activities. Walked by my rods a lot. This morning I stuck a couple in the Xterra. Found my gear or most of it in the house I am living in now.

Got to the stream mid day. Several folks were fishing different spots. I found a empty stretch and pulled off. Sort slow to get dressed and rigged. Took a lot longer than it use to. Remembered what I needed and wanted to carry. Figured a dry and dropper till I could get a feel for the place again. It wasn't the days of holding court and being cooky by any means. I got the river and walked in. Felt good and familiar.

My casting was pretty rough. I hadn't fished for more than 30 min. in the last 3 or 4 months. Looked like I guess I found my flyrod somewhere. It slowly came back bit and piece. Moved up to some riffles and plunges. The dry drifted down and up came a quick swirl. I set and made contact. That 12 inch rainbow would not have more appreciated at 30 inches. Missed two to everyone hooked. Rusty and off on the rhythm.

Stayed at it for the rest of the afternoon. Caught a lot of fish. No count and no real care for that. Every hook up a trophy and every miss a worth adversaries win. I like to fly fish and maybe I'll get back to where I use to be or maybe someplace a whole lot better. Who knows.

Thanks for reading this post.

Glad you got out to healing waters.
WE all have multi-determined reasons for fly fishing.
Take care Brad.

It does'nt take long to get out of rhythm . On the rare occasion that I don't fish for 2-3 weeks,I am out of whack for about 30 minutes to an hour.

You ought to see Creek Scum after a couple months off

Taking a spin in the back yard with the fly pole is good therapy when you are stale

I agree with JT my casting sucks right now. Been too damn busy to fish much this year. No way I could fish the SoHo, I would look like I was having epilectic siezures or something. Glad your getting out Brad....
