Fished Saturday afternoon for the first time in a couple of months. I fished one spot for a little while and caught 3 or 4 including one decent one. Went on upstream and fished for another hour and caught about another 10. That hour was strong. Most of them were in the slot. I was some kind of glad to be back and not have to throw midges. I missed most of last summer's fishing with a sick wife. I have been renting a place and carrying her with me this year. I was a little late with this report. I have decided I hate photo bucket!

Don, they put a slot limit in a few years ago to get people to take some of the smaller browns out and throw back the bigger ones. You can't keep any between 10 and 24 inches. The river is over populated with fish under 10 inches. The object is to reduce the numbers to get more fish into the slot. One they get into the slot they can eat minnows and stuff other than midges. I didn't get to fish last summer, but the summer before that I was catching bigger fish on average than in years past. Time will tell but I do believe it is starting to work. I try o keep a couple of small browns every time I go and every holdover rainbow I can get my hands on. I frankly will be happy just to go when I can and for everybody in my family to stay healthy this summer!

Looks to me like the slot is working.

You need to float the Savannah River Shoals in Augusta
with us sometime soon.
