Rain and low 40's are back this weekend. It was in the 60's and sunny Friday so I got a couple hours in with the center pin in the evening. Mostly casting and drifting practice but still fun and nice to be out in the sun.

Saturday morning was 40 and drizzle. I prospected a new section of a wild trout stream I have never fished before. It looks like a pretty good stretch. I hit all the good spots and took mental notes for nicer days. I managed a few small bows in the deep pools bottom bouncing PTs.

I was pretty cold and damp after a few hours. I know summer's coming some day!

Nice! May I show my ignorance and ask what a center pin rig is?

Hey Phil Center Pin is a reel that has no drag and is completely free wheeling. Mostly it’s used for big water steelhead up here. I think it started in Canada because everyone here callsnit a Canadian rig. It is all mono no fly line and you usually fish a fly like a nymph streamer or egg pattern under a float. You get amazing drag free drifts with a natural presentation. I’m sort of messing around with it to see if I can get it to work on some trout runs. My steelhead rig is a 14 foot heavy but flexible rod. I’ve got the CP reel on a 10 ft 5 wt messing around. I’d line to see if it works on the tenn tail waters. So I’ll bring it to the pff and you can take a look at it.
