This has been the hardest winter in along time for me to get to fish. Every trip seemed to have been killed with snow, ice, snow/ice, cold (below 25*) and/or high dirty flows.

Enough bitching about stuff.

Went to the neighbors this evening and fished nymphs for slow spooky bluegill. It was drizzling and around 40*. Still nice to be outside :)

A lot of cast and slow still water retrieves turned up a few fish.

Glad to get out and catch some fish ;)

...But with the pond 1/2 covered by ice, how does that qualify as "warm water"?

I agree, though, it's been a long hard Jan. Glad you managed to get your fix.

Good job, Teach. When I wake up to this, I give the fish a rest...and they've been enjoying a 'rest' for many weeks.

What is that thing in your picture, Brad? It looks slimy and finny.
I checked out my pond just today. It got that hard crust off of it yesterday but today still looked like butterscotch pudding.
I can't WAIT to wrassle those bluegill!

Feb. is turning out to be equally as challenging. I'm hoping to find a break between weather, wound, and Mr. Mom to go try.
