Nice lookin' brim Don!! :D

I got 4 automatic feeders on the way...and am going to be spending a lot of my fishin' time in the pond focusing on eraddicating them darn shiners.I'm gonna tie up a box of brightly colored (and a few natural and hare's ear type) soft hackles.....and every one I catch is getting his tail cut off and his eyes poked with a bodkin to blind them! that should hamper thier feeding as well as them raiding the other fishes nests and make it next to impossible for them to spawn....and make them easy prey for the bass and catfish :D .
I know I can't get em' all....but I'm gonna do my best to put a dent in em'.

Nice Fish. I have discovered a series of quarries about 25 miles from here that I hear are real good. I was going today with yak, but had 10,000 things to do. Can't wait to get back to the brim. Thanks for posting, Don.

Pretty fish ,Don
Good pics also.

Tom.
The way to get rid of the shiners is to put out a bunch of shiner food and then come back later with the throw net.
Also, good kitty cats love to eat shiners.
And lastly, if there is a raptor center near you, they will take fresh dead fish to feed the injured owls, hawks, ospreys, etc ,etc, etc

Shiner food.....hog pellets! Dump a couple of piles around the lake and come back a couple of days later and you'll have shiners out da ying yang!

That's the way all the shiner fisherman catch there bait in Florida!

Great time for the kids too....catch the baited shiners with cane pole and BB size bread ball!

Like JT said, cast net will get ya a bunch of shiners fast!

I've tried a cast net....but I'll admit....I'm not good at it. Generally I've found them little pests are too fast....they are scattering while the net is still in the air....also our net is only 14 ft'...perhaps a larger diameter is needed...along with a lot of practice. I really did'nt mean to highjack Croakers report.....so I'll stop there....and eventually start my own thread about pond maintenence and management....as I plan to make this a priority over the next couple of years and figure a few folks might be interested and might be able to offer some good advice and ideas.
