Had a good float on the New a few days ago with guide Jeff Payne. Water was high and "dingy" with visibility only about 6-8 inches but we decided to give it a go anyway.
At the put in, picked up a smallie and a redeye on topwater, on the first few casts. Fishing was off and on for the rest of the day but managed a number of smallies and redeyes and it kept the day interesting. Some on spinning gear but quite a few on topwater and on chartreuse sliders pulled beneath the surface...and on a white streamer with lots of flash. Turned out to be surprisingly good day considering the water conditions.
