Having nothing better to do this morning, Judy and I decided to run over to Eno River State Park, hike a few miles, maybe fish a bit and have a picnic lunch. We hit the eastern section of the park, and hiked downstream a good mile to Bob's Hole. The river was a disappointment. Recent heavy rains had left it high and muddy. You could see where it had been out of it's banks recently, and it was still a good 12" to 18" high. There was no way I could wade out in it. I did try a few casts from the bank, but I couldn't entice a strike.
We did have a good hike, though. About 3 miles, and along the way we actually walked up on a deer, that only moved about 20 feet off the trail to let us go by. That was kinda cool. It was a pleasant day to be out. Maybe next time the fishing will be better as well.
