Jay Kelly was nice enough to take me out on his boat for a bluegill trip last weekend. They were hammering a fly that was basically a heavily weighted bully with the legs tied at the hook bend with a black chenille body. Caught a few that would be considered second cousins the lake geezer monsters. Bass weren't as cooperative, but we didn't put too much effort into them since the gills were so plentiful and fun. There was one downfall to the trip, the conversation went like this...

Jay: What the hell was that?
Jeff: What do you mean?
Jay: Something just flew over my head
Jeff: Really, what was it?
Jay: Dude, I think it was your 2 wt?
Jeff: Well, turn the effing boat around then!
Jay: Do you see it?
Jeff: No, pretty sure flyrods don't float

I'll consider it a sacrifice to the fish gods... and they rewarded me with good fishing. Also, this gives me a good reason to build a new 2 wt. Blank is in the mail!
