Got a call from Peddler and he tried to sell me on the idea of rather than working on honey do's all weekend we should go check out the lake and see if the bream were doing any better on Saturday. It was a pretty easy sell job and although the weather didn't look to promising off we went.
The good news is that the fish are coming up on the bank and starting the beds. Still not full blast but getting a lot better, the day started a little slow but after the sun came out we started catching a lot of fish. While the really big ones were still not up, we made up for it in numbers and still got some decent fish.
While this was not Jacks biggest fish, it was pretty and made him smile, so had to put it in.
I got to see Jack do this really great magic trick late in the day, I hear Jack hollering an look back and he has this huge bass on, turn my head and when I look back he has a four inch gill on the end of his line, pretty good Jack, but after a short discussion about the legality and ethics of it we decided to put the gill back in the water and see what happened. Sure enough the LM came back and grabbed the gill again. I would guess it went well over six pounds but alas it turned back into a gill again. We pulled out the heavy artillery and started bass fishing but to no avail. I only wish I had a camera out to catch that moment!
Anybody have a good bluegill fly pattern that matches a four inch fish?
