Brought tears to my eyes Sunday before last. Over 50 miles of dead fish in the river.

Still no word from the GADNR/EPD or Federal EPA other than bacteria from "Environmental Stress".

Mark Chambers (GADNR official) hasn't hasn't responded to our local newspapers phone or email since the "Bacteria Outbreak".

The stress orginates at the only industrial discharge on the river. I worked at the plant for 15 years in the 80's-90's.

High levels of NaOH (sodium hydroxide, lye) were found in samples tested locally. Going on two weeks for the "Officials" water samples test results and no word from them.

Whole lotta pissed off people down here.

John, Didn't kill every fish... A few Gar and Minnows survived.

The GADNR/EPD and Federal EPA "so" called officials/experts have lost all credibility to most people down here.

If 50 miles of the Chattahoochee River near Atlanta had a chemical spill/fish kill of this magnitude, I bet the water tests woulda been made public.

I'm gonna be at the meeting, though, I'll stay in the back because lynching and horse whipping have been mentioned along with class action law suits against the plant and EPD/EPA officals.

I wonder what those idiots plan to do about cleaning the river up and also what about jump starting the recovery with a million fingerlings.

Were any fish able to get into the side creeks and survive ??

JT,

The fish in the tributaries weren't killed as the discharge was in the main river.

IMHO restocking as suggested by some politicians is a pipe dream at best.

Even if most of the warm water hatcheries weren't all closed...
There wouldn't be enough fish to stock over 50 miles of river.

The spill also kilt most of the invertabrates (crustations, mollusks and insects).

So, even if fish were stocked there is nothing for them to eat...

Class action lawsuits by landowners are in the works.
