Mstash and I floated the South Fork of the New, 221 Access to Riverside Canoe on Sat. I watched the weather and my only concern was a wind out of the east all day. Got to the river abut 8:30, checked and the shuttle and it was 10:00 when we finally got on the river. Started out a little slow with nothing but pecker heads teasing da shit out of us with a few hooked. Started catching fish about 1/2 hour in and the rest of the day it was game on! Rick and I caught 50+ fish on the day and had several get off and bunches of missed fish ta boot! Caught smallmouth up to maybe 17", caught big Red Eyes....biggest I've ever caught, and caught Red Belly Sunfish! Fished soft plastics and poppers. Caught fish on both. Even had a little excitement when I did a face plant in the river and came up with the lean bar wrapped around my ankle and the stripping basket floating down the river with my hat. Lost the standing platform so no more standing..... so I sat and continued to catch fish both with the fly rod and with the spinning rod. Most all of the fish had plump and full bellies, those fish are eating well this summer!
Great day on the water with a great fishing bud. Sun came out for about an hour, the rest of the day was cool and overcast.

River was running right at 196 CFS and was at 2.03 feet at gauge in Jefferson. Caught bunches of fish and some really nice smallmouth ta boot! Won't be long and the water will be getting too cold for that kind of action. Get your butts up there and catch some fish! Hoping big time the rain doesn't mess the river up for this up coming weekend! Monday look really good if the water stays right!

Se ya on da river,

Ralph/ODG3 ;) :D

Rick,

Got a quote on having a new lean bar made.........$200.00 for the broken part but the walls of the 1 " tube will be thicker. Going to use Diamond Plate for the lost platform. Be back in business before ya know it!

Ralph ;) :D

Sounds like a Good Urn!

Bummer about the leaning bar, standing platform and face plant.
At least there wasn't a Hornets nest...

Don,

Nope, not this trip, but that story is told every time I go by that spot! No worries though, that tree/bush you got you fly hung in is gone!

Ralph ;) :D
