I floated by myself on Sat. July 21st. Caught fish pretty much all day. Caught them on the top until about 3:30, that's when I broke my fly rod! Picked up the spinning rod and continued to catch fish on soft plastics. 26 or 27 Smallies, biggest was 13 or 14 inches, 5 large Redeyes, and 2 bream big enough to get the popper in their mouth. Not a whole lot of folks on the river.

Going back this weekend if the river will allow.

Ralph ;) :D

See y'all on da river

Sounds like a great day except for the busted rod... What happened? Sorry to hear that.

Rob,

Floating by myself, Sycamore tree hang over the water, boat on the outside edge, bug 3 or 4 feet off the bank, fish hits, missed fish, fly is wrapped around thumb sized limp about 8 feet up in the air, trying to shake loose the fly while floating down the river, POP! Top two sections intact, ,broke male part of second section where it come out of the female part of third section. Clean break, may have been stressed several years earlier when its was fallen on while on the river.

St. Croix Imperial IV/II. Blank cost me.$100.00 When I built it. New and improved series Imperial blank is $190.00. New Factory rod is $300.00. Called St. Croix and they said send it in with $85.00 and they will send new Blank and old rod back. So I now have another rod to build!

It will keep me outta trouble over the winter. Have a rod to finish right now then two more to get finished!

Ralph ;) :D
