It's vacation time and as usual the ladies in my house want to spend it at the beach. They usually do a last minute vacation home rental. I'm basically a captive audience but would like to get a little fly fishing in.
Please help a brother out here and learn me about some places on the coast where I can maybe catch me some fish with a fly rod. I can't afford using a guide so wading is what I'm limited to.

You guys gotta help me here. Last year was nothing but beach walks.
Thanks,
Peddler

I'm not an expert by any means, but I found there were several areas in the Outer Banks that you could walk the banks and fish. One of the locals gave me a bunch of maps and circled some areas I could dig out. Even with all of the beach closures, there were still plenty of places to explore. There are also supposed to be some pretty good largemouth fishing, but I never found time to look into it. Downside is that its a hike to get there from Charlotte.

Talk to Captain Gordon Churchill in Newport. He da man.

Also...try any of the inlets on our coast. Fish them on an outgoing tide. Creeks draining tidal flow = bluefish / trout buffet line.

When are you going? NC or SC? or is that still in the negotiation stage?

We haven't quite locked things in as of yet. It's getting near crunch time though. If you have anything, Allan, please PM or email to me.

Had good luck wading Wrightsville area...Inlet and around docks on sound. Ft Macon at Atlantic Beach has inlet and jetty access. Nags Head will have some access for shore and wading....and down at Oregon Inlet. Myrtle is the worst probably ...
