Two weeks ago, I had an excellent day fishing for tailing reds at St. Simons Is, GA, with Capt Dave Edens....aka Rod Wrapper.

Despite temps in the 30s when we left the dock, Dave had us into some Reds and Trout within about 15 mins. But as the tide dropped, Dave put his flats boat on plane and we headed for a shallow flat to sightfish for tailing reds.

Nothing like experience and familiarity with the area...the reds were there...feeding and tailing in 1-2 feet of water After a few blown casts, I got the knack of it and hooked up. Action was excellent until we finally terrorized the fish and the tide started coming back in. Best fish of the morning was a 30" red.

Dave has an excellent web site, tips and photos etc. at flycastcharters.com...check it out for more info.

It was great having Richard in the boat. We had a great day. We hunted two schools of from 50-100 reds and numerous schools of 5-15 fish. The big schools of winter have formed. Richard had four on and got three to the boat. This is the last one. 30", 10 lbs. A real trophy on a fly rod.

That's a lot of redfish for most any rod! What weight were y'all using?

Nice fish.

Thanks...I'm certainly ready to close the store and head back to Ga...but the boss says I have to stay here and assist holiday shoppers.

I was fishing a BIIx 8 wt....spooled with some SA Mastery Textured Titan Taper 7wt line.
