Don
Them tasty sheeps were caught on shrimp and a few on blood worms. I would have used sand fleas (mole crabs) if I could have found them.

I ha 6-7 flounder over 16 inches------- all came on white or chartreuse grubs. The best was a little over 20 inches. Prolly a little shy of 4 lbs.

Not bad work for a spinning rod.....

Never caught a sheepshead. I though you had to use barnacles around old pilings. Nice batch of flounder too.

We were fishing around old pilings and an iron jetty. I just could not find fiddlers or sand fleas or barnacles. Barnacles were present, but the water was just too dangerous to wade out and try to get some barnacles

Looks like you boys got into em pretty good. Never really cared for the taste of Sheephead (maybe the way they were prepared) but the flounder are deeeeelish.
Thanks for the pics. Still got salt in the blood.....

I'm surprised you didn't get into any gator trout being that close to shore. In the fall they like to run the first ditch right off the beach. Sometimes this is only a few feet off shore. Chuckin a chartreuse jig on the sand and letting the wave carry it back into this ditch will produce some really big trout.
This works good from a pier or dock where you can cast parallel to the beach. ;)

It was too warm for trout. I threw a grub for 4 days straight and all I caught was flounder. I had a nice Red Fish come unbuttoned on a grub.
I got blue lighted and the officer says "John Thomas" As he was getting out of the truck. He walks up and introduces himself as Jule's boss' son. Nice guy

Bob

I like sheephead fried in House Autry Breading. Don turned me on to House Autry about 10 years ago and I have been using ever since. Zatarains makes some good breading also
