Myself and Ed Walshe headed to Harkers Island, NC the last week of October. Got to fish 7 out of 9 days. The last two days the weather was too rough. First day fished off the beach at Lookout Point, caught fish but no Albies. The next day we fished with Sara Gardner and caught plenty of Albies. Sara gave us good info on how and where to fish. The rest of the week we fished out of Ed's 24' Sea Pro CC and caught lots of Albies. Even caught a few one day on Todd's Wiggle Minnow. Everything was caught on the long rod. Broke a Scott s3s 9 wt and a Ross reel. Albies have no respect for flyfishing equipment. On Friday night attended the Cape Lookout Flyfishers banquet and Saturday night went to Tom Earnhardt's BBQ. Stayed with the Virginia Coastal Flyfishers, they have been renting a house on Harkers Island 3 or 4 weeks each fall for the last 17 years. Pound for pound I think False Albacore are one of the hardest fighting fish around. It is not unusual for one to take 100+ yards of backing on their first run.

Helluva trip my friend . I have been attached to Fat Albert on several occasions and there is nothing that will remove line from your reel as quickly . NOTHING !!!!

Nice looking hog also

The last day we fished our boat had 33 Albies. 7 double hookups & 7 double landed, 1 triple hookup & 1 triple landed. What a day!
