Hey, one of my favorite rods is a 6'6" 2wt. They are a blast. From experience, having a spare rod is a good idea. I lost the top 2 sections of a 4 piece rod on day 1 of a 3 day trip. luckily for me a guy in the camp found it for me.


Jason...my biggest agrument with a 9' rod is'nt fishing it......its getting it through all the brush and rhodo's while jumping from hole to hole :twisted:

A second rod is never a bad idea!!

I have seen Disco work magic with his 9 ft rod on a small stream. I can't do it.

My personal preference for small streams is a 6.5 or 7 ft 5 wt and a Wilhelm-made furled leader. The 5 wt will throw a heavier fly "with authority," to borrow a friend's explanation. The furled leader is magic for short roll casts. I have not had trouble with spray from my leader.
