I had a nice $170.00 Olympus 740 Stylus camera disappear on a trip back in May & I guess it's time to bite the bullet & get another. :x If you all have any opinions on what brands/models are good, I'd like to know. I'm interested in quality scenery & macro pic taking as well as would like to have ability to take pics/vids underwater. The one I had required an underwater casing which I never purchased because I didn't want to have to hassle with the extra gear on the water. Thanks for any advice.

John

John I have a Pentax Optio W30 that I've been very happy with. The new Optio W90 is supposed to be even better by a long shot, but it runs about $225. Hope this helps.

I have a waterproof Olympus and am very pleased with it. They have several waterproof point & shoot cameras in their line up at various prices.

You might want to take a look at these sites:

There is a great thread on the Itinerant Angler forum under photography. Do a search and you find alot of angler reviews.

I love my Pentax. I am quite sure as Phil says. The latest Pentax will be a knock out.

I like the underwater feature also. 2 reasons ------- I occasionally go swimming and I like taking underwater flicks

I have had an Olympus and the Pentax waterproof cameras. I gave the Olympus to my stepson and kept the Pentax. It takes better underwater photos IMHO.

Pentax. More features and modes than you'll probably ever need too.
