Well I have been out of commission for over a month now as I tore my left biceps tendon 60% off the bone... ouch. I had surgery to reattach it just over 2 weeks ago. Typing is just now starting to be comfortable and they have cleared me to do "light things" with the left hand as long as I keep the arm in my sling. SOOOooo of course winding a fly reel is something light :)

Since I have not been able to fish at all in over a month I am going to fish for some steelhead in the Erie tribs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I will report back Sunday night and let you all know how it goes. The weather looks great it has rained off and on (mostly on) for about a week, stopped last night and the forecast is mid 60's and sunny all weekend... Wish me luck

Hey Rob,

Glad to hear that you're on the mend. Looks like you guys have gotten enough rain to pull some fish up the tribs. I've been watching the stream level gauge daily and also the web cam at Uncle Johns.....getting a bad case of the fever. I think I'd already be on the road and heading north if this wasn't the weekend for the one fly tournament.

Post us some pictures.

My boss... when I had one BESIDES my wife, was a body builder up in R.I.
One day while pushing his boat around he snapped his bicept from the crook of his arm.
He said it sounded like aa 22 going off as it rolled up into his shoulder! Youch!
Take care of that muscle there Rob. That stuff must hurt!
Those steelies can wear out a good, healthy bicept!

Thanks for the kind thoughts and gear suggestions :) guys! I am doing better I just need to be very careful not to tear it back off again. So yeah Jack it really did sound like a 22! I told the Doc that it sounded and felt like an M80 blew up in my elbow.

RiverMan are you coming up this season? The fish are just starting to come in to the Erie tribs so it will be a few weeks (weather permitting) when the thick of the run is going strong. If you come up make sure you contact me I'll try to get on the water with you or at least get you the latest dope on the conditions.

This weekend was pretty lame... not many fish and a lot of fisherman! I managed to hook up about 7 or 8 times and land two of them...Seems that every one has that early season itch! To get the idea on Sunday morning we got to a pool/run at 5:30am and there were 4 guys rigging up already in the "parking area". We hurried down; got the head of the pool and sat to wait for day light. Over the next hour and a half we were witness to a spectacular headlamp shower... not as wonderful as its cousin the meteor shower but pretty awe inspiring. All the bright headlamps settled gentle along side the run about 15 feet apart and then went out. As day light come up there were 14 people ready to fish this run. I stayed for about an hour and a half and then left... I saw 3 or 4 fish landed.

On the bright side the arm held up very well so as long as I am careful I will be fine!
