Oh hey i just thought of a few more things...

Drive time - you would not be driving all the way to buffalo, I would have you stay close to an hour south of the city so cut about 1 hour off the travel time.

Weather - the weather can be anything at that time of year. As geezer posted it snowed on him in oct and it can do that but it can also be really nice ... A few years ago my friend got married on the first weekend in December and it was in the 50's. Take a look at the posts of mine from last year check the dates and my clothes. Point is watch the weather and pack accordingly and then bring all your winter gear anyway because as we know weather men can not be trusted. :D

Gear and flies - not sure how much you guys know but here goes ...
Rods ... 6 wt is good if you have a reel with a good smooth drag. 7 wt is better. 8 wt is good too. Flies ... Eggs, scramble eggs, nymphs and streamers (colors ranging from white to black include some purple) the best bobbers by far are the "Thingamabobbers" or equivalent. I would almost say don't even bother with other types of indicators. Tippet ... I almost
always go with 2 x flouro but I would bring 3 x just incase. Make sure you have some splitshot too. There are no flyshops south of the city of buffalo only walmarts so come complete or you'll have to go to orvis and that will cost you about an hour :o

As for the atmosphere on the Erie tribs I think you are getting bad info or info about the tribs in Erie, PA. Those PA steams are a nightmare! NY Erie tribs from Hamburg south to Westfield run through very small quant towns, farmland, or gorges. There are 7 fishable streams in that stretch. All are very easy to get to and scout on I90.

Jeez I should be getting a check from the damn Western Ny travel board!

That sounds more like it. The guys I was talking to are PA guys.

I don't know about a check, but I think we can spring for some beers.

Lol no the check should be coming from ny not you guys :D

Right now it looks like we're going to be staying home. Some scheduling conflicts and a home closing look like they are going to interfere. I've already have the days off of work so I'd love to come up, but it might have to wait until After the new year.

I'm definitely planning on coming up at least twice this year. Sorry for the delay in my response. I'll talk to Lucas about my plans this weekend at Cherokee and I'll get with you, Rob, after we get back from Left Behinds.

Thanks for your generous offer and advice.

I've been watching fish being caught on the webcam at Uncle John's Campground. I'm really fired up and ready to get up there.

R v W... man that is a bummer sorry to hear it but if things change I am pretty flexible so hit me up and I can at the very least point you in right direction. But I can probably get on the water ;)

Riverman very cool to hear! Just let me know when you are coming and I can make plans. I have not really been able to get out much this year (only a few days/hours since the runs started) so I am planning on making up for lost time between now and when the streams ice up.
