Knot,

No, I have not tried the preen gland juice. Guess I must give it a try.
I typically use catskill type dries or parachute bugs. Both of which I doctor with Loon Aquel.
I fish a lot of EHC's and Wulffs in the small streams. I Aquel them also

No doubt that CDC is a good fly material, but I just don't like being pissed off as I fish.

JT

I'm with JT on this one. I got tired of dressing my dry every second cast. I use Aquel.

...And, I learned from Billres -- when ya have to dress the durn fly, ya get a bottle of Loon Easy Dry beads, dump half of it out into another bottle, and fill the rest of the first bottle with Frog's Fanny. Shake it up, and the combination is the best of both worlds. Dump the fly into the bottle, close the lid, shake, and fish. Don't get it in yer eye (or eyes, for those of you who have two). Henheh.

Well I'm with both you fellows on the patterns mentioned. Regular dries I always use the aquel too. Matter of fact I never used frogs fanny or CDC till I started fishing the SoHo but for me it's a must there. Since I started using the preen oil I can fish much sparser cdc patterns and it makes a huge difference on numbers of takes. Not trying to talk you into using the stuff but it may surprise you.

Frog's Fanny is really popular among gay San Francisco amphibians. And it bothers yer eyes? Hmmm....

Once, while young and dumb, as an Ensign living in SOCAL, I cut a very, very hot pepper. Knowing I needed to wash my hands I went to the bathroom to wash. In what turned out to be a poor decision, I decided I would take a leak first, and thus economize on washing.

When I climbed out of the shower, fully clothed, yet exposed, 15 minutes later I realized that was, as the kids would say, "an epic fail." But, I have not repeated that mistake in over 35 years.
