If it is for a temporary fix, and yer near (or traveling by) a conventional bait/tackle shop... Stop in and see if they might have a spinning rod tip that'll fit. Hot melt glue will work. And, I have heard on good authority that one can use some electricians tape to secure the tip as it creates less drag than duct tape.

Ain't Life Grand!!!

Assuming you mean tip top not tip section.

What size do you need?

I have a handful of tip tops laying around. Welcome to drop by to see if any of them fit. Give me a ring this weekend. The only requirment is that you convince my wife that I should be going with you :D

Use the Loomis Expeditor service. $55.00 (or so) and you have a new rod at your door in a day or two.
It might still be on even though then new Loomis series changed. Can't say for sure Loomis still does this but it is worth the try.
I broke my old GLX 9 weight last fall too. Got a new GLX Cross Current in the mail in no time for my troubles.
Hurry though! You ain't got much time before the boat leaves!

Going albie fishing the first part of next week at harkers.

yes, the tip top, not the last section of rod.

Tim - Gary suggested I give you a ring. It is for a nine weight. I don't know how else to size it. It is gone so I can't even measure it.

Jeff, I will give you a ring this weekend. I'm not trying to convince your wife of anything. I have enough trouble convincing mine that I need to go fishing. She considers a 2 hour retention pond afternoon a fishing trip!

Jack - don't need a whole rod, just the tip, the last guide. I hope this rod never breaks.

I did too. The replacement I sold in hopes of getting a rod I really liked... maybe something close to the old GLX classic... then unemployment and reality hit. :|
As you and Maniac know, those old GLX's are phenominal rods... way ahead of their time. They're just don't take lightly to errant split shot or any abuse or mis-use. Good luck in your search.

Don't tell anyone I said this but the replacement for my 9 might just be a TFO GVK. Hellava good casting rod, I think. The 6 weight at the Asheville show was a fine rod, the 8 weight, not so good. Gotta cast the 9 before I take a chance on it.

Measure the diameter of the tip in 64th. My guess is that it might be a #5 or 5/64th in diameter. I may have some #5s, don't know that I have anything bigger though.

Other option is to cannibalize another rod if you have one. Usually they are put on using a heat activited glue (like hot glue, but different). Heat the tip top, remove it and replace it on the 9wt. But then if you had a similar rod, you wouldn't need to fix this one would you?

If you are able to measure the tip diameter I would have any size you would need.If you have a drill index card or a drill set you should be able to figure out the size in 64ths. If the other options do not work let me know. dave
