Don't tell anyone I said this but the replacement for my 9 might just be a TFO GVK. Hellava good casting rod, I think. The 6 weight at the Asheville show was a fine rod, the 8 weight, not so good. Gotta cast the 9 before I take a chance on it.

Peter....Jack means this rod: BVK Series by Temple Fork. I cast the 6, 7, & 8 wts. and I liked all three. Cost about $225 - $250.

Yer right, Jule. I should have remembered BVK... Befty Krehs' initials if I'm not mistaken. ;)

Peter, thinking about your problem, I can't help but wonder what kind of Frankenstein rod you're going to end up with.
A soft , slow tip might be workable but if the tip section is much stiffer than the rest of the rod there will be no joy in albieland. In fact, there is a very good chance you could injure more of your original rod.

I keep tip guides for fresh and saltwater rods so probably have one that will work. I can leave a selection in the store mailbox, with some glue, if you can't get by during open hours. Call before 3 pm on Sat. Otherwise, you may be able to get one at Capt. Joe Shutes on Atlantic Beach causeway, Tall Tails Tackle...same area... or a shop on Harkers...

And Peddlar..."your" 5 wt BVK just arrived!

Sir Richard... 9 weight... 9 weight! Got too many 5 weights but need a 9 weight.
Think Befty or Kent or that Texas rod pusher can get a loaner to you?

Peddlar...a loaner?...maybe... If not right away, I expect to have more closer to the Raleigh show date.

Thanks guys, sorry for not getting back here, things got crazy and yet another trip this fall has been shot down.

Thanks to everyone for their offers and advice. Richard I will probably work my way up there at some point. Thanks!
