18 degrees here with sleet and freezing rain. What's up with that? The roads are like glass. I ain't going anywhere today.

Well, it's not so cold today. Right now it's right at freezing. We had an inch of snow this morning, followed by a layer of sleet. Now its just a gentle, cold dirzzle. The roads are very icy, even with the layer of salt they sprayed last night. This time the ground was frozen, so the ice isn't going to clear too quickly. Still, a with rising temperatures and steady rain, the roads should be OK by mid afternoon.

The Stoneman told me that the coldest day on the water is 33 degrees and rain. Well, it's 32.7 degrees and rain....I guess I'm getting ready to find out. Wish me luck.

Go for it and put some small holes in fish lips, Blake. Wear good clothes.

I'm jealous.

We got 13.5 inches of snow last week which was the 5th highest snowfall on record. Then the overnight temps dropped to -17 and it was -12 when I got up.

Cold enough to stack up bass at any number of "hot holes." Gonna be a good weekend for it and it will be on poppers! Always like the first real cold spell but it may get old being so early this.

I was completely un-familiar with the phenomenon. Very interesting. Might have to hit it on Sunday. If you make it out earlier, please post a report or send me a PM. Will the sudden warming trend shut it back down?
