Well, the eve of new regulations on the Smith River is upon us. Brian Williams (DRBA) and Scott Smith (DGIF) were kind enough to start putting up the new signs at the major access points along the river yesterday. As with any implementation of new regulations, we expect this to be kinda bumpy in the beginning. This is where I ask for everyone's help, for this to work we need as much help as we can get to educate the ones that will listen, and turn in the ones that won't.

If you see someone breaking the new laws, please don't be afraid to turn them in. You can do that by calling DGIF's "wildcrime" line at 1-800-237-5712 or the Henry County Sheriff's office at (276) 638-8751. If you run into anyone on the river that wants to learn more about the Smith River's trout fishing, regulations, etc... you can give them my information: Darrin Doss at (276) 340-3193 or darrin [at] dossphoto.com. If I can't answer their questions I'll find someone who can.

Here's a link for today's article in the Martinsville Bulletin:

Thanks!
