Hey Fellers,

Hope the New Year is being kind to everyone.

I hate to clutter the board with this, but I need for Jule McDowell to call
me or send a note on old-fashioned email. According to my Yahoo email box,
Jule sent a message to me via Facebook. I don't do Facebook for
several reasons, only one being my wife's account was hi-jacked by
some unknown creep. In fact, if someone would be so kind, I would
like to figure out how to remove my Facebook account.

Thanks for putting up with me.

Bo

Yeah,

I found the varmint, or rather, he found me.

Thanks again for letting me clutter the board with a plea for help.

Y'all be good.

Take care, Bo

Rumor has it that the aforementioned 'creep' fishes with hand-tied 'Sham Wow" worms....But, I hear he has been attending Hackers Anonymous meetings.

I, too, jumped FaceBook when I received things like: "Igor Stryovsky in Lower Slobovia wants to be your friend" and chastisement such as: "I sent you photos of my overnight cruise to New Bern and you haven't responded!" No, if someone has no redeeming qualities, such as fly fishing, no purpose in life, and way too much time to squat in front of a keyboard and send photos of your latest sojourn to Big Lots, then FaceBook is for you.

Geezer,

You are thinking along the same lines...............................

Facebook requires another set of hoops to jump through, something I don't need in an already complicated life..................another password, another log-in.

Then, I never figured out how to navigate FB to find what I thought I might ? be looking for...........too confusing.

Former students somehow found my FB account and would ask me to "be their friend" and I would "accept" to show that I do still care about them. However, the next thing I would do is send them notes BEGGING them to contact me by old fashioned email (and not post a message on FaceBook) because I truly wanted to hear from them and catch up on their successes............one-on-one. GUESS WHAT? Out of around 6 dozen such notes sent, only 1 ever contacted me by my email address which I posted on FB to make it easy for them to send me a note. This tells me they are not interested unless they can use the wonderful "social networking system" of FaceBook that I see as a system that removes your privacy.

After posting this thread, a helpful Winston rod customer of mine in Chicago sent me the directions for complete removal of my account from FaceBook. I did so successfully 2 days ago, but then, FB won't totally eliminate the account for 14 days to give one a chance to "Back Out." HA.......... I ain't backing out !! I want to be free of this social networking garbage where it seems there is never-ending contest to see who can get the largest number of "friends," in spite of the fact that I have never heard of 2/3rds of the people who send me such. My emails would contain an average of at least 3 "friend requests" a day !

THIS is what interests me................... and I can find them without Facebook!
They don't lie, cheat, steal passwords, or attempt scamming one out of their money.
Image

I AM FREE AT LAST, FREE AT LAST...................... now, one less hurdle to negotiate daily.
I have no use for all the social aspects or silly games that are played on FaceBook.

Now, how do I really feel ????????????????? ;) :D  ;) :D

Y'all have a wonderful week. Bubba Bo, Free at Last
