An important client (and good friend) wants a professionally guided fishing trip for big fish. The objective would be to catch lots of fish, the larger the better (think 20 lbs and up). Live bait is fine. Also, he will want to keep his legal limit. He does not fly fish. So 6 inch native brook trout are out.

There is a striper guide he likes in TN, but the guy is booked on weekends. Does anyone have suggestions? He would be looking for a first-class professional guide with quality gear and lots of experience. Big stripers would be good. Maybe catfish at Santee-Cooper would work. Or, maybe something in the salt out of the Charleston or Wilmington area would also work. (However, he doesn't have sea legs anymore so inshore only or a calm seas where he could see land would be the only options for salt.)

There would probably be 3 or more people on the trip.

Easier drives from the Charlotte area are preferred. Saturdays are best.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Aaron....here is a link to Santee guides....go down the list and look for Don or Joe Drose.....or any other of the Drose family....(but preferably Don or Joe) That family has been guiding on Santee and probably have a combined hunred yrs of experience! I don't hesitate to say they are the best there.....they know the lake like no one else....they know thier stuff....and they will put you on fish.....they can tell you that day depending on the water weather etc. wether your better off looking for big blue cats.....going after stripers or pounding the timber for big crappie.....they'll know whats hot......seriously....look em' up!

I definitely would do the Big CATS at Santee. Seems to fit your list list of needs.
Great that OB has some names of guides.

Mitch Tinney is an excellent and passionate striper and hybrid guide in the Nashville area. Not just a good 'ol boy, but the real deal. He's presented the last two years at our show and made me a believer. His email is mr.striper@yahoo.com and work phone is 615-355-1799. Super friendly guy that definitely knows how to put people on trophy fish. -Knox
