I agree, thingamabobbers suck. I was recently introduced to spiral indicators -- http://frontrangeanglers.com/catalog/cz ... indicators I have a few, but have not tried them yet. It is also easy to make your own. Otherwise, the toothpick bobbers (I mean indicators) seem to be the best thing in my humble opinion.

Personally, i use yarn, on guide trips i'll use the bobbers for those that can't cast the water out of the yarn, attach some of those dental o-rings to the bobber with a clove hitch, no kinks & they stay in place.

What's a strike indicator ????

never use them. they annoy the heck out of me and I can pretend the fish I don't feel were never there

Gee, I wish I could muster enough emotion to hate a type(s) of strike indicator. When I fish I suffer that emotional weakness known as "enjoying the experience" too much, I guess.
