I was looking at the switch rods by a couple of different mfg'ers and starting to want one. I believe they would rock on highwater and big rivers. I was wondering what you all thought about them.

For the purposes you mentioned, they would rock, had the TFO rep give me instructions with one, pretty cool.

My mom used to send me to get a switch. And she'd quote something about "sparing the rod"....And you're thinking about buying one? I've got plenty of 'em around the farm, here. Just pay shipping.

Like a bullet: 45 caliber? .308? Black powder .50? In any case, didn't the noise scare the fish? I'd think a silencer on the end of your "switch rod" would be a bit cumbersome.

You have really reminded me Geezer how much jargon we have in this sport.

Ditch I believe I am going to go with the Wright-McGill 11' 5wt. I took my 11' improvised one to the FB Sun. and had a lot of fun with it. You may have to give me some pointers along on how to get the most out of it.

(Improvised one is a Wally Marshall crappie rod with a fly reel and 5wt. line on it)
