Hi There,
I'd like to float the N. Fork Holston near/in Saltville, VA. I don't keep fish, so i'm not worried about mercury. Does anyone here know about any access points suitable for a 12' raft with a frame? Are there any fishing outfitters in that area? PM me if you think it's necessary. Thanks...

Call Bruce Wankle at the Virginia Creeper Fly Shop in Abingdon,Va.
He will know the answers to this.

I've been fishing the North Fork a lot this summer. It's fishing well right now even with low water levels. I'n all my years fishing that stream I've never seen anything other than small boats (canoes, kayaks, tubes). A 12' raft would be impractical for that water for several reasons: 1. No adequate launch points. 2. You'd be dragging a ton 3. The water is skinny and the stream isn't very wide. You'd spook every fish in the stream as you worked your way down. Bring a canoe and a 5 and 6 weight and you'll have a blast. PM me and I'll give you some local beta that'll help you. -Knox
