I'm going up with an old, old friend. Yes he's older than JT or Flychamps even, to the Shenandoah next week.
He is the man that took my brother and me fishing when we were kids as our old man didn't fish.
Will I be good if I've got brown, black and olive boogers?

Topwater? What's a good pattern?

5wt
6wt am I good?

6 or 7 wgt is about right

Sneeky Pete or Hipps poppers are good on top.

Hellgramite patterns under the water can be killer. Yes,take the brown woolly bugger andsome clousers in green/pearl.

Jule's Flashdancer can be killer at times

At least a 6wt. A 10" smallie pulls harder than a 15" trout. An 18" to 20" smallie will give you a battle you won't forget. The Shenandoah had lots of 10" fish last year.

Flies, what JT said, but, if you have them, Stealth bombers are also good. Almost any minnow imitation will trigger a strike. Crayfish, sculpins, salamanders, frogs, etc. also all work.

Cool I've got a nice stash from Jule's birthday gift to me. Water is stained now I've heard so We're going up end of this week and let a few rip. I'll post up a report so y'all will have something to read since nobody else posts fishing stuff here :D

What section are you planning to fish? We've been geting plenty of stors on our side of the mountain. Give FT a call. He lives and works close to the river so he can give you up to date information.

We're staying in Edinburg and fishing there I think. We have kayaks and two trucks to shuttle

510 miles ONE WAY from Chattaboogie to Edinburg VA. yes that's farther than it is to new Orleans from here, but well worth the drive.
We camped at a nice little private campground right off 81.
Fished the North fork for a couple of days and had pretty good luck with blue damselfly poppers.
Went over to Southfork on Monday and had very little traffic on water and very few of those boats had rods sticking out.
50 + fish on the popper that day. I did take a spinner and used 1/16ozjigs with crawdad plastics. :o

Great trip and beautiful country too bad I can't upload pics
