My granddad loved Zane Grey novels! It's still fun to pick one up, every now and then. Among his other talents, Grey was an avid fisherman, although more inclined toward salt water big game fishing in his later years.

I had an entire collection when I was a kid thanks to my grandmother. I spent a lot of cold winter nights reading Zane Grey paperbacks.

Bob, that explains it - there is a gift in being a good writer, which you have, but it also takes plenty of reading to help unwrap that gift.
