I bought full rabbit pelts so that I could cut my own zonker strips. My bunny leech patterns are working well, but I'm wondering if anyone ever cuts their strips "against the grain" rather than in-line with the grain of the hair. The idea is so the hair naturally is already pointing rearward as you begin to wrap the strips forward. Thoughts? Comments?

Never cut one crosscut but lots of the ones you buy are crosscut just for that reason.

I came up with that idea about 5 years ago, and I found it helpful to use an embroidery "hoop" that is rectangular to hold the hide. They have them at Michael's in various sizes, just get one about the size of a rabbit hide.
