Tyin up some saltwater flies for Smokey.....just givin him (and I guess the rest of ya's ) a sneak peek......still got a couple more patterns to play with....plus bigger stuff for snook......but heres a few startin out......any suggestions appreciated. :)

Gummy shrimp....could use some legs??

Image

I like this pattern as the bent hook and weighted belly should make it move in the water hook up and like a shrimp??

Image

more shrimp weighted in the belly to ride hook up.....

Image

bonefish bitters....

Image

crab.....

Image

knotting the biot legs are a pain in the ass!!

Image

So I tried rubber legs...a little easier and probably much better movement.....

Image

one with hackle legs....

Image

a few old ones using furniture coins and rubber legs....did these a few years back.....

Image

I do like the rubber band claws on these.....

Image

a few epoxy shrimp.....

Image

Image

Image

some more epoxy critters.....

Image

and Smokey would'nt be happy if I did'nt tie him at least one "turd"......

Smokey.....you're gonna owe me big when this is all over with........dumbass :)

I am only familiar with the marsh around Hatteras so this may not be good for Fl. but tie some shrimp in brown.

Fine looking set :) No Dr Deaths in glass minnow?

Brad....I was planning on eventually tying some shrimp in tan and rootbeer.....just have'nt gotten that far.....I appreciate it though....still playing with the structure of patterns.....I did do one in chartruese....did'nt really care much for it though.....but I'm not a fish?? :?

I was gonna do some olive mantis shrimp too.

Dr. Death will certainly be in the line-up for Snook.....as well as a few larger crease fly poppers :D

Supafly also sent me this killer pattern ......

I'm gonna try a few variations we discussed :D

Nice looking ties. On the crabs, it looks like some of the bodies are hard. I know next to nothing on the subject, but I did have a guide turn his nose up at some similar crabs I had, indicating that they would not sink correctly in the water. As I recall, he preferred something that would float down, rather than wobble. Curious if anyone else has thoughts on this.

they all have epoxy underneath :( ......you might have a good point.....like you ....I'm really not sure. I'm guessing he means that if you drop it right in front of a tailing red that he might snub it because of peculiar behavior? though once on the bottom I would think these would have the advantage....staying closer to the bottom as they are retrieved..... may just be his preference....not so much the fishes? I'm really not saltwater experienced enough to know or even have my own opinion......I just know I see a lot of saltwater flies heavy with epoxy.....for weight and durability.

Nice looking flies! Man I gotta learn to tie........

I fish Sanibel Island for Snook every year and this is by far the best fly I use:
