Ben:
I don't know about the Travler, I have had one for over 15 years and still can't get a good looking fly off it. Has to be the vise!
Can I blame Peddler now?

Always blame the Peddler-man. He invites it. It makes him feel important.

...............you are way too hard on yourself 'boo. Maybe just try and relax and go through it. You'll get better. ;)

RE: vise...I did realize after ordering that I am getting the knob model and not the lever style jaws, but after using the E-Z, RT hand only, for so long with 2(!) adjustments on the back side anything will be better than that...

I used the knob style for years and it was fine. PHG actually prefers the knob over the cam lever style. What you got will work just fine.

They didn't have anything other than the screw type when I bought mine. This year for Christmas Momma got me the upgrade for the cam lock. If I like it I am thinking about possibly taking the grinder to my old one and converting it to a midge head. Has anyone tried that with the traveler head?

I was thinking the same thing....I'm also thinking that if you take a grinder to it....its gonna rust all to hell where you removed the surface. I think I'd leave it be.
