It takes me 3 hours to get the thread wrapped on the shank. Beautiful fly.

Looks darn fine to me! I've taken a crack at salmon flies and have a couple nice looking ones, but more often than not, the hook gets a fresh razorblade and I end up starting over.....

Take Care,
Timbros.

Hey Colin,

Sweet looking fly! I have yet to dive into salmon flies yet... they can be pretty time and money consuming.

You already got some great critiques-- check out this page with a great list of proportions for salmon flies.
http://www.skogmus.no/innhold/jf/MSO/MSO_engelsk/4_Anatomy_and_proportions.html

As Bob stated already, watch the underbody... the floss won't hide anything. Also, practice making your head a little shorter.

And with your seal dubbing-- use a Velcro dot stuck on a Popsicle stick as a dubbing brush to comb everything into place.

Check into flytyingforum.com and search for tutorials in the salmon fly board... some excellent info there from some of the best.

Caleb

That is one sick salmonfly man. You'll be addicted to tying them before too long!
