That's some good shootin', Teach. I need more fps on my pellet rifle, 'cause when I shoot at the hook point, the pellet never gets up past the bend. Nice lookin' fly. By the way, don't try shootin' at the hook point with 00 buckshot...I'm still lookin' fer all the pieces of my borrowed vise.

I hung a piece of corn today, hoping to attract some of the local pear burglars. Can't spend all my ammo making flies. ;)

You don't need more FPS (unless that's a comment from Mrs. Geezer). You just need to go barbless for deeper penetration past the bend.

As far as penetration, I prefer fixed heads and get complete pass throughs. :D

After this pattern I took a pellet and pinched off the cone. Fairly easily done. I think this might be the cone head for my river Woolly Buggers 8-) I lose a lot of buggers on the FB to the bottom. Cheap and effective I'm hoping. Something to piddle with on cold and wintry days :)

Brad, I mentioned to a Scots friend of mine about your concern of losing "a lot of buggers" and he shared with me the British definition of "bugger". Uh...I'm a bit confused, but I'm happy for you that "don't ask don't tell" has been eliminated.... And I am pleased that you have found "something to piddle with on cold wintry days".... :o

I know the journey is part of the appeal, and if money was the issue I would be buying better looking flies than I can string together from Caylor for about a buck a piece, but any idea how the price of a pellet compares to a Riverman special on cone heads?

Also, when you get a chance, post a pic of one with the head snipped.
