Some of you fellas have already seen this old photo but here it is again. I used turkey to come up with a little different looking stone nymph some years back. Mostly just because I had plenty of turkey laying around. The mottled color sure works well when wet though and it's been a good fly. I don't always use biots for legs, webby hackle palmered over the thorax works just as well.

To tie the body I tie in the tips of a small slip/bundle of turkey tail over lead wire wraps. I then wrap the slip/bundle forward and lash the excess butt ends down just ahead. Then I tie in another slip/bundle on top of the lashed butts and wrap it forward. Usually takes about 3-4 slips/bundles to get to the thorax and will build the nice tapered body someone mentioned here that they wanted. I then counterwrap it with a vinyl rib and overcoat the whole thing with head cement. Still got bags of turkey feathers here too if anyone needs any.
